Topic:Diversity and Gender Stereotypes in Social Media
Thesis: How does gender stereotypes developing in Social Media ? Why diversity is important for social Media?
After I taken Media class , I started to thinking and research for some questions about diversity and gender stereotypes in Social Media. Undoubtedly, the gender stereotypes in social media changed a lot in those years, man will not just be “hero” anymore and women will not just weakness “princess” anymore. Diversity already become a big part of media, people
mix the various regions of the world, all nationalities, all classes and different political and cultural differences in social media, to achieve of globalization and attract different people from different countries.
The traditional concept of gender role is a man should have the ambition, ambition and independence, behavior of rough bold, dare to compete, namely with "masculinity"; women should be compassionate and sensitivity, good housekeeping and child rearing,on gentle and considerate, gentle in manner and quiet, namely with "female temperament".
Men seem to always be in the movie leadership, more capable and culture, and women are always in a position to be protected, no male wisdom and calm, a lot of movie hero to the rescue of the screen. Think about it, no matter how strong the girls, the men's final are needed relief. In the movie, the most attractive than the beautiful people of it, we are seduced by the beauty, whether or sportsman beauties, have become movie buy the most important part. But most of the film and television work, women will always be "vase class" figure, a closer look at think about it, what the movie looks more women are ugly, while the men in the trade request is not very high. Most men grasp of social wealth, beautiful or not does not matter, while women are more concerned about the appearance. For example,"Like a man can not spit chewing tobacco can not be the same with men," remember this speech right? It is very familiar with the classic film "Titanic", Rose told Jack to go to school in the deck spitting, discovered by her mother. This also affects virtually our ideas, women should ensure that there are rules, but to no avail bohemian describe women. In the invisible effects movie, we find it difficult to accept the feminization of men. Under normal circumstances, the community is hate girly men, because men are usually set by society should be masculine. Worth thinking about is that in film and television works, to create image of women, in order to meet the needs of the community deliberate or unconscious behavior?
Film and fashion as a social and cultural benchmark, the inevitable with age mark. From 1937 first princess movie "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" come to the 2013 "Frozen" Hot, twelve princess movies, spanning nearly 80-year era of change, although there is no continuous story of these films on , but there is still a visible clue gleaming: to enhance the development and status of women feminism.
There is no feminist consciousness without brain princess: snow, Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty.Snow apparently still weak nor a brain, she did not show any resistance or independent spirit in the film, in addition to singing and dancing, and small animal friends - after these three characteristics have become the standard for all Disney Princess - is in the forest chased by hunters, casually eating the Queen's poison apple, lying in a coffin waiting to be Prince Wen Xing. Snow beginning to end in a completely passive state, and even her hit song "Someday my prince will come" full of blind optimism and passively wait mentality. Of course, the presence of snow also conform to the historical needs, in 1937 the United States, the Great Depression of the remaining prestige has not faded. Fear of the American people really need such a fairy tale rekindle the faith and courage of their lives, also proved, Snow White born at the right.
Post-feminist era of princesses (The Little Mermaid began, Mulan so far), and finally learned to make men do dream, they dream of becoming like men, even men do do, ride the battlefield, make contributions (at least Mulan is such) . However, a more in-depth feminism, women do not want to become like men (can not deny the differences between men and women physical and mental), but not to a woman and a man showdown, but to put aside examine male to female , the definition of the identity of women by women themselves, thinking their own strengths and weaknesses. Women's dreams should be to please "their" instead of pleasing the patriarchal society. So confident feminists should ask yourself: what "I" want? Among the Disney Princess from 2009 played "The Princess and the Frog" began, including "Tangled" in Rapunzel, "Brave" in Merida, until 2013 "Frozen" in Elsa and Anna, all with this kind of self-consciousness, so I referred to them as "a new era of feminist princess."
From a "Brave" to this part "Frozen", the theme of the film has been transferred to the relationship between women and women up. "Brave" is about her daughter, "Frozen" began to talk sisters. Tablets male role image has become increasingly worse. Princess movies, has increasingly become a "female movie." "Brave" in even a decent prince did not, "Frozen" is the completion of the unprecedented initiative: Prince finally bad, the entire film, became the biggest villain. Has experienced eight years of changing times, the men finally from the "savior", reduced to a "behind"! Women finally realized a long time to suppress the liberation of women.
My another thesis is diversity in social media, especially in American film. American film tries to transcend the various regions of the world, the movie version of all nationalities, all classes and different political and cultural differences, to achieve its aim of globalization. Such as Spielberg's "Schindler's List" is a typical German awakening of conscience, and not hesitate to risk their lives to rescue Jews rebel Nazis and the true story of the creation of the master copy of the film, the film is clearly a humanitarian spirit is important ideological background. In order to achieve the film transcendence, the Americans also took heterozygous multicultural approach to film-making, in an attempt to meet the different countries and regions, different ethnic and cultural traditions people's aesthetic needs. America itself is a nation of immigrants, and the arrival of multi-ethnic blend makes this country from the beginning of the founding of a strong foreign culture of inclusiveness, it is also based on this point, it was decided the American movies cultural diversity. When Halle Berry became the first African-American actress to win an Academy award for Best Actress in 2002,she was said “This moment is for Dorothy Dandridge, Lena Horne, Diahann Carroll. It’s for the women that stand beside me - Jada Pinkett, Angela Bassett, and it’s for every nameless, faceless woman of color that now has a chance because this door tonight has been opened.”
With the second half of the 20th century, accelerated the pace of global international, multicultural elements polymeric quickly evolved into major Hollywood movie production, so that the American film production is not only able to provide entertainment for their audiences the text, but also to different countries around the world and the nation's people to see their familiar cultural factors, and thus to love this film culture.
In order to realize the diversity of film culture, Hollywood has long been an open attitude gathered a large number of the world's film professionals, such as Ingrid Bergman from Sweden, the United Kingdom of Vivien Leigh, Australia, Mel Gibson, and China's Jackie Chan, Jet Li, John Woo, and other famous artists. These different nationalities, different historical and cultural background to bring together artists of Hollywood, has laid a solid foundation for the diversified development of American movies. In addition to American movies depict and reflect the reality of the country outside, but also tried to depict the world to different countries and ethnic realities of life and stories of other nations of the world to attract viewers. Such as the American film about the Chinese film history and reality of "The Last Emperor" and "Mulan" and is a typical example, in the animated film "Mulan", the Disney approach with its unique perspective and interpretation of this well-known Chinese woman Men play, for the father of the army's story. American film also introduced other ethnic and national literary classics in some of the stories and characters, such as "Sense and Sensibility", "War and Peace", "Anna Karenina" and other films, this approach whereabouts overseas promotion of American culture has really made a cultural output and commercial profits double harvest.
It can be said that the American film firmly grasp the nature of film and popular culture, and rely on their entertainment, spectacle and meaning beyond its characteristics such as the formation of a strong position in the movie business on the world market, the use of this strategy, not only forming a virtuous circle of American movies, but also greatly contributed to the development of film art.

Diversity In Music

Diversity In Music
After World War II, the United States and many European and American, Oceania countries, has become a melting pot of nationalities. Monocultural concept slowly evolved into the concept of community culture. These countries constituted by a variety of ethnic groups, first proposed the idea of multiculturalism. With immigration musical confluence of cultures and to promote the rapid rise of multiculturalism and prosperity in the United States and the world.

From 1916 to 1924, there has been extensive Britain, France and Germany folk songs. R. Foresman (Robert Foresman) "Books of Songs series" is the first presentation, the entire series of more than 200 folk songs of the performance of all of Western Europe more than 20 Nordic and Central European culture.

Films about race and ethnicity

"Films about race and ethnicity

Racial issues in the international arena continues for a long time, and until now have not been fully resolved, as an outsider, we always stand on the critical position of white racists, for obvious reasons, they are the direct executor of discrimination against blacks in this behavior.

In the movie, most of the black race are more backward countries, some for many years in the war, which makes us feel that their living environment in turmoil, frequent wars, their citizens are very aggressive, easy to riot. We see the places where blacks tend to be ghetto, a variety of drug trafficking, violent events happened here, so we think they are so in the subconscious.

"The Help" is adapted from Kathryn Stockett's novel, about a social phenomenon in the 1960s Mississippi occurred. A college girl could not understand American society Skeeter very unfair treatment of black maids, wants to write a book to help these maids out of the woods.
